Karen joined the Stockton Heath and Lymm Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic in December 2013 and has had previous experience of working in a private practice whilst maintaining her NHS work .
She first qualified from University of Liverpool in 2001 with a BSc with Honours in Physiotherapy and has gained a wide range of experience working in the NHS.
Since moving to Warrington Primary Care Trust in 2003, Karen has specialised in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. She treats a range of different musculoskeletal problems ranging from lower back pain, frozen shoulders, whiplash, knee and ankle injuries, and tennis elbows.
Karen is also a qualified acupuncturist and often uses acupuncture to compliment her physiotherapy treatments. In particular, acupuncture can be very useful for pain management in the acute phase of spinal patients to help to reduce any muscle spasm.
Throughout her physiotherapy career Karen has always had a keen interest in sports injuries. She has had extensive experience of working within the sport of Rugby League as one of the Physiotherapists at Widnes Vikings Rugby League Football Club between the years of 2002 and 2012.
Karen has also provided physiotherapy for North Wales Crusaders, Rochdale Hornets and Liverpool St Helens Rugby Union Club. She is currently the Great Britain Teachers Rugby League Team physiotherapist. In 2008 Karen was lucky enough to tour in Russia with the Heath High School Rugby league team as their physiotherapist. With this pitch side first aid experience, Karen has excellent soft tissue diagnostic skills for injuries to the knee, ankle and shoulder. In particular, Karen has a keen interest in knee injuries such as ligament sprains and patellofemoral dysfunctions.
In her spare time Karen enjoys watching Rugby League and Tennis. She is a season ticket holder at Widnes Vikings. She also enjoys spending time down at her family home in the Welsh countryside.
